GAP Hire Solutions is celebrating after the firm achieved FORS Gold certification.
FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) is a voluntary accreditation scheme which aims to raise the level of quality and demonstrate which operators are achieving ‘exemplary’ levels of best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection.
Glasgow-headquartered GAP boasts a fleet of over 700 commercial vehicles. The firm said that holding FORS accreditation has helped the company focus on and put in place policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all aspects of transport law.
While working toward achieving the FORS Gold Standard, all of GAP’s transport managers have participated in workshops to stay up to date with the latest developments and gain knowledge. The hire company’s drivers have also undergone a number of training courses offered by FORS, as well as undergoing regular health, fitness and wellbeing briefings and checks.
Chris Parr, chief operating officer at GAP, said, “We are delighted to have earned FORS Gold. Health, safety and reducing our impact on the environment are all of great importance at GAP and the company has put in a lot of effort and investment to reach this significant milestone.
“All of GAP’s HGV vehicles are fitted with state-of-the-art safety equipment such as cameras, nearside proximity aids and audible reversing alarms. We have invested in an industry leading asset delivery and telematics system which monitors driver behaviours and includes route planning to minimise unnecessary milage and fuel usage. GAP only purchases vehicles with the latest Euro 6 diesel engines built in, helping to reduce CO2, NOx and Particulate Matter emissions.”
In line with its aim to become net zero by 2040, GAP has been reviewing its existing fleet, introducing hybrid and electric vehicles where possible.
