JCB updates popular machines with Stage V engines

JCB has launched a new 55kW 3CX ECO backhoe loader with EU Stage V-compliant engine.

The manufacturer revealed the machine delivers ‘improved operator comfort and ease of use, increased productivity and performance, combined with reduced total cost of ownership’.

Features include a revised Command Plus cab, integrated LED beacons and step lighting, a  3.0-litre engine delivering 10% torque increase and 7% fuel saving, and auto-levelling, auto seat select and auto-2WD.

The Command Plus cab features yellow grab handles, while larger mirrors offer an improved view behind the machine when manoeuvring or roading. The cab interior features a split colour line, with darker grey used for the lower half and a lighter grey in the upper half. There is also a new seat with a dark fabric and yellow stitching. A headrest is available on the Advanced Easy Control (AEC) model.

The 3CX ECO introduces a range of automation features including Auto Stop, which automatically detects when the machine is no longer in use and shuts down the engine. Auto Seat Select is available on machines equipped with servo lever control and automatically recognises which direction the seat is facing. Auto Drive allows operator to automatically select a chosen engine speed when travelling on the road.

JCB has also introduced Stage V-compliant versions of its 140X, 150X and 220X crawler excavators. All three machines will use the JCB DieselMax 448 engine. For the 140X and 150X, the firm said this will result in a ‘substantial rise’ in torque.

JCB’s range of Loadall telehandlers for European markets are also now available with Stage V-compliant engines. From the 531-70 through to the 540-200, the full line can be powered by the JCB 448 DieselMAX engine, delivering 81kW (109hp).
