Equipment sales ‘stabilising’ as construction activity continues recovery

NEW research has revealed sales of construction equipment in November were just 4% below the same month in 2019.

This follows a shortfall of 3% in October, indicating sales are ‘stabilising’ following the dramatic fall earlier in the year in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The figures were provided by the construction equipment statistics exchange, run by Systematics International. The scheme is run in partnership with the Construction Equipment Association (CEA).

The latest stats mean that sales in the first eleven months of 2019 were 26.6% below last year’s level during the same time period.

Sales of mini/midi excavators are only 9% below 2019 levels. Telehandlers for construction use, however, are still seeing sales ‘significantly’ below last year’s levels in recent months.
