VOLVO CE is launching its new 90-tonne Stage V excavator – the largest in the manufacturer’s range – to meet demand from markets with such regulations.
The EC950F crawler is said to offer the ‘perfect combination’ of power and stability to handle a high capacity in the ‘toughest applications’.
The machine is equipped with a 450kW Volvo D16 engine, while the optimised hydraulics system is described as increasing pump power for ‘fast and smooth’ operation. The electro-hydraulic system controls on-demand flow and reduces internal losses in the hydraulic circuit. The EC950F also comes with a boom-swing priority valve.
Volvo’s ECO Mode helps with fuel efficiency. This mode optimises the hydraulic system to reduce loss of flow and pressure, while the integrated work mode allows operators to choose the best work mode for the task at hand.
The excavator can be fitted with a range of attachments, including general purpose, heavy-duty, and extreme-duty buckets. The attachment management system can store settings for up to 20 different products.
Other features include a wide track gauge, long track length, retractable undercarriage, and optimised counterweight. Smart features include the optional Dig Assist.
A large entrance is said to increase safety and convenience, including high visibility handrails and anti-slip plates. FOG (Falling Object Guard) and FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) are optional, while the EC950F can also be equipped with rear view and side cameras, or Volvo Smart View, which provides 360° vision.
Machine protection is provided by features such as a heavy-duty boom and arm, strong frame structure, heavy-duty underside plate and floating pins on the bucket connection, as well as optional full-length track guard.
