CATERPILLAR has unveiled four new backhoe loader models that are said to build on the Cat F2 Series.
The new models comprise of the Cat 428, 432, 434 and 444, which are replacements for the 428F2, 432F2, 434F2 and the 444F2 machines respectively.
Caterpillar said the new backhoes offer ‘similar model platforms’ throughout the line to deliver component commonality and operating similarities.
A redesigned operator control system incorporates analogue machine gauges with a colour LCD information display. Informational icon pop-ups are described as offering quick navigation between operating modes, while full text diagnostic descriptions ‘simplify’ troubleshooting and maintenance. An enhanced security system disables the engine, transmission and hydraulic system until a valid passcode is entered via the LCD operator control screen.
The Cat C3.6 engine meets EU Stage V emission standards. The engine consists of a service-free Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emission solution with diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and diesel particulate filter (DPF). The 428 is available with a 55 kW engine, replacing the 427F2, and requires only a DPF to meet the EU Stage V emission standards.
All new models feature adjustable auxiliary hydraulic flow, so hydraulics can be ‘fine-tuned’ to meet the operating specifications of attachments, Caterpillar revealed.
The models will be available from May.
