THE new Komatsu WB97S-8 backhoe loader has been unveiled.
The machine is the first follow‐up model in the manufacturer’s new range of backhoe loaders, and is described as offering a ‘high level of standard specifications along with unrivalled operator visibility’ thanks to a combination of a lateral exhaust pipe and compact bonnet.
Alex Visentin, product manager at Komatsu Europe said, “Following the successful introduction of the 2-wheel steering model, the new WB97S‐8 brings a range of high‐standard features to the Komatsu backhoe loader family/ With a clear focus on safety, the WB97S‐8 is a perfect balance between great visibility, operator comfort and productivity, which makes it a perfect match for any customer’s needs.”
Built around the features of previous Komatsu backhoes, the new model boasts an operating weight of 8,750kg and an EU Stage IV Komatsu SAA4D99E‐1 engine. A viscous fan clutch is said to help achieve fuel savings by reducing the engine load when maximum cooling is not required. The machine has a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system using AdBlue.
Komatsu’s closed load sensing system is at the heart of the hydraulics, supplemented by the manufacturer’s parallel loader linkage, described as ‘ideal’ for working with forks. Other features include a standard ‘Return to Dig’ function, a kick down switch, and an automatic ‘speed up’ and selectable floating function.
Hose burst valves are included for backhoe operations and on stabilizers. Safety features include a new ‘Engine Shutdown’ secondary switch, a ‘Travel Neutral’ lock, ‘Street Mode’ functions and an optical seat belt alarm.
KOMTRAX technology and a new 7’’ colour monitor are also included.
