Orkney contractor opts for a Volvo double

AN Orkney-based groundworks specialist has snapped up two new Volvo excavators.

Andrew Sinclair Contractors of Kirkwall has opted to buy an EC140E and an EC200E, replacing a Volvo EC160D and EC180D respectively.

“We certainly appreciate Volvo excavators for their reliability, performance and build quality,” said director Bruce Sinclair. “This, coupled to the good aftermarket support we have received from SMT GB, the fact that the machines hold high residual values and the competitive package put together for us were our main reasons for sticking with Volvo once again.”

Bruce explained that the purchase of 14 and 20-tonne machines will provide greater flexibility for the typical projects they take on. The EC140E has been equipped with a Steelwrist tiltrotator.

Both models are powered by Stage V compliant 4-cylinder Volvo engines and feature an integrated work mode control, said to ensure the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions.
