MULHOLLAND Contracts has purchased its first ever bulldozer – a Komatsu D61PXi-24.
The West Calder-based business had previously been using a hired bulldozer, but with demand rising for this machine type, the company has opted to bring one in-house.
The mid-size D61PXi-24 is described by Marubeni-Komatsu as an ‘all-round performer’ featuring a slant nose design to enhance visibility. The dozer is also integrated with Komatsu’s machine control system.
The machine has been put to work at a new housing estate in Midlothian, where it has been tasked with creating landscape bunds. It will soon be moving to a large housing project in Edinburgh.
“Our aim is to be innovative leaders in our marketplace, so it made sense to choose the intelligent machine control bulldozer over the standard option,” explained Mulholland Contracts finance director Kevin Breen. “Initial use of the D61PXi-24 bulldozer has shown that our decision to go with Komatsu has been well judged.”
