Miller time for new compact excavators

WICK-based housebuilding and groundwork contractor M M Miller has snapped up two brand new Volvo EC60E compact excavators.

The firm has become one of the first in the country to take delivery of the six-tonne model, which was launched earlier this year. CS Machinery Sales, SMT GB’S utility equipment dealer for the north of Scotland, supplied the machines.

The Miller fleet already includes larger Volvo excavators and two Volvo A25G articulated haulers. MD David Miller said, “They’re good machines. We’ve been operating them for a good while and they represent good value for money. They are reliable and appreciated by our operators, as far as creature comforts go. They also hold their value very well, with high residuals when we do decide to change them out.”

The new machines will help support the firm’s core activities. One of the EC60E’s has been fitted with a Steelwrist tiltrotator.

The Volvo EC60E is powered by a Volvo 2.6 litre Stage V engine. The machine’s engine is also fitted with a load sensing hydraulic system, said to provide ‘fast cycle times and smooth control’.

The excavator boasts a horizontal reach of 6.4 metres and a dig depth of four metres. Rubber-mounted cabs have been included to reduce whole-body vibration and external noise, while air conditioning is also a standard feature.
