THE Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) has announced that Ian Simpson will add to the organisation’s technical capability.
Through his company Langside Consulting, Ian will provide technical consultancy services to the CPA and its special interest groups, including the Crane Interest Group (CIG), the Tower Crane Interest Group (TCIG) and the Construction Hoist Interest Group (CHIG).
Ian is a chartered mechanical engineer with over 40 years’ of experience of working in industry and health and safety regulation. He was previously a principal specialist inspector with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), responsible for the investigation of many serious accidents arising from the use of construction plant, access and lifting equipment.
CPA chief executive Kevin Minton said, “Ian has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we welcome him as a strong addition to our team. Our Special Interest Groups will undoubtedly benefit from his contribution.”
