New JCB excavators poised for Plantworx debut

JCB has announced that Plantworx 2019 will mark the first public appearance of the firm’s new 13-16-tonne X Series excavators.

Joining the 210X and 220X models launched last year, the new 131X, 140X and 150X are said to feature the JCB X Series ‘hallmarks’ of ‘robust durable design, increased productivity and improved operator comfort and ease of use’.

Key features of the new diggers include a wider operator cab, in cab noise reductions of up to 68%, modern styling, and increased diameter high-flow pipework. JCB added that the two larger models also deliver a 6% improvement in tonnes per litre productivity.

Tim Burnhope, JCB chief innovation and growth officer said, “In the UK alone this class of machine accounts for nearly 60% of all tracked excavators sold, so we are hugely excited about the introduction on three new X Series machines which cater directly for the needs of the all-important groundworks sector.

“The 210X and 220X have already delivered on customers’ demands for greater levels of strength, durability, comfort, ease of use, reliability, efficiency, productivity and serviceability in the 20-tonne sector, so we are delighted to bring this new level of detail to our 13 and 16-tonne models.”

The machines will be joined at Plantworx by the 19C-1E fully electric mini excavator, which JCB explained will allow contractors to work inside buildings and in ’emissions-sensitive’ inner-city environments or underground without having to install exhaust extraction equipment.

Utilising automotive battery technology, users will be able to work outwit normal hours in urban areas without disturbing residents, as well as operating in other noise sensitive environments such as near hospitals and schools.
