Major issues to be discussed at annual CEA conference

THE Construction Equipment Association’s (CEA) annual conference programme has been announced.

Sponsored by SMT, this year’s event takes place on March 21 at the East of England Arena in Peterborough and will be moderated by Off Highway Research MD Chris Sleight.

The annual conference will focus on UK market opportunities (2019 – 2025), with workshops running in the morning, dealing with issues including training and the CEA’s new partnership with the National Fluid Power Centre. There will also be a workshop on emission regulations and guidance on meeting the requirements of Low Emission Zones and “green” construction initiatives.

Malcolm Harbour CBE, a customs expert, will discuss EU import and export issues following Brexit. The CEA will also be using the event to launch the UK Construction Equipment Sector Study, jointly funded by CEA and BEIS (Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy).

The afternoon will feature guest speakers from the likes of Highways England, EDF Energy and HS2.

The conference will be followed by a gala dinner, sponsored by Caterpillar, and the presentation of the Plantworx Innovation Awards 2019 by snooker legend Steve Davis OBE.
