Scots projects help plant firm extend its reach

LONG-reach excavator specialist WM Plant Hire has recently added a new CAT 390F, which boasts a staggering reach of 30 metres, to its fleet.

The firm said that apart from being the longest reach in the UK, this extra heavy-duty machine benefits from the latest Caterpillar engine technology meeting EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. It has improved fuel consumption, important safety features including more cab glass area with rear and side view cameras to enhance visibility, as well as greater versatility with a tool control option. WM Plant Hire added that this ‘Tool Pro’ system can remember hydraulic flow and pressures for up to 20 tool attachments.

With the fleet ranging from a reach of 8m up to 30m, this enhances the company’s heavy-duty machine offering for specialist excavation, marine construction, quarrying, rail and highway sectors including emergency slope stabilisation works.

WM Plant Hire has been working across Scotland with their CAT 365 and CAT 385 machines at projects including the landmark V&A Museum of Design in Dundee and marine demolition at Peterhead Harbour; together with their smaller machines working on Carron Dam, Highlees Water Pumping Station in Ayrshire and on the Highland Enhancement rail project near Aberdeen.
