Landmark Glasgow excavator deal is Centre of attention

TDL Equipment has concluded the largest ever deal in Europe for SANY excavators. Glasgow-based Centre Plant – sister company to groundworks and infrastructure specialist Allma Construction – has purchased 23 of the Chinese-manufactured machines in a £2 million order.

Centre Plant’s fleet consists of 55 excavators, ranging from 13-35 tonnes. Grant Maclaine, TDL’s regional sales manager said, “I contacted Willie McMillan who at the time didn’t know much about the SANY products. Initially the discussion was about replacing 12 machines so we offered them a 14 and 21-tonne machine for demo.”

Centre Plant MD Pat McBride added, “We put two of our most experienced operators on the two demo machines, guys who we knew would moan and groan if there were any problems. The feedback was very positive.”

Following the demonstration period, Centre Plant opted to increase the order from 12 to 23 machines, comprising fifteen SY135s, seven SY215’s and the SY365m, which is due shortly. All the machines came equipped with Hill Tefra hydraulic hitches, Strickland buckets, vandal guards, boxing rings and green beacons.
