“Record” number of visitors Czech out Doosan kit

DOOSAN’S annual Quarry Days event in the Czech Republic set a record attendance of nearly 400 customers and dealers, the manufacturer has announced.

Held over three days, this year’s event took place in the Belice Quarry near Prague, where 380 attendees were given the opportunity to get hands-on with the latest Doosan kit.

Product highlights included the new DL580-5 wheel loader; a new version of the DA30 articulated dump truck (ADT); and the new DL420CVT-5 and DL280-5 wheel loaders. Over 25 machines in all were available to try out.

The new DL580-5 “top-of-the-range” stage IV compliant wheel loader offers a bucket capacity of 6.4m3 and features “robust” structural components and a “sophisticated” double circuit axle cooling system, Doosan said. The unit has an operating weight of 36030 kg and static tipping loads (straight/full turn 40°) of 29700 and 26200 kg, respectively.

The new version of the DA30 30-tonne ADT features an upgraded hydro-gas self-levelling suspension system, which aims to offer superior shock absorption for increased driving comfort. The cab features a Grammer Actimo XXL seat with its own independent low-frequency pneumatic and wide scissors-type suspension.

The new DL420CVT-5 is the first wheel loader in Doosan’s range to be equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which the manufacturer said allows the machine to automatically transition from hydrostatic power at low speed to the mechanical system to operate at higher speeds. With a maximum bucket capacity of 4.2m2, the DL420CVT-5 is intended to meet a range of material handling needs, from industrial, construction and demolition, to mining and quarrying applications.

The DL280-5 wheel loader features a dedicated design for agricultural, waste and recycling and general industrial applications. The front lift arm is powered by a closed centre hydraulic system with a 210 l/min axial piston pump. The wheel loader also features Z-bar kinematics with a lifting piston system designed for heavy-duty applications. The breakout force of 145 kN is combined with a constant bucket angle that is maintained throughout the range of movement, Doosan said.

Euan Stewart of M N Stewart Ltd, based in Aberdeenshire and a customer of Balgownie, Doosan dealer for the north of Scotland, commented, “The Quarry Days trip was brilliant and we had a great time. It was nice to get a shot of everything in the quarry to see how they worked and performed.

“It was also nice to meet new people in the same line of work as myself. And, of course, Doosan and Balgownie ensured that we all had nice meals, drinks and lots of laughs, both in the Quarry and back in Prague.”
