YANMAR is introducing a fleet management system to customers in the UK and Ireland. From this month (August), the manufacturer confirmed that SmartAssist Remote will be fitted as standard to selected new carrier and crawler excavators.
Using telematics technology, the system will allow site managers to monitor equipment location and status from their smartphone or PC. Information such as fuel consumption, engine load, running hours and system idling will all be available, while geofencing capability activates if a machine leaves its designated area.
Yanmar added that full integration with the engine control unit allows engineers to plan maintenance operations, while error reporting and system abnormality alerts can minimise unnecessary downtime.
Andreas Hactergal, sales and marketing director at Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe said, “Introducing state-of-the-art fleet management technology for operators across the UK and Ireland demonstrates our commitment to leading the compact construction market.
“Developed in-house, our SmartAssist Remote telematics solution aims to maximise work potential, improve productivity, minimise downtime and optimise fleet efficiency. The operator can make immediate and informed decisions based on real-time insight, while comprehensive daily reporting helps site managers to understand total fleet performance.”
