Updated scalper aims to boost productivity

SANDVIK has launched its new QE342 heavy duty scalper, which is an upgrade of the manufacturer’s best-selling QE341 machine.

The firm explained that the model’s design and attributes means the production of even the most hard wearing of materials is facilitated through a wear resistant steel apron feeder, with “massive” stockpiling capability and over-wide conveyors that “maximise delivery”.

A purpose-designed crusher-style chassis has been developed to accommodate more powerful engine power packs.

Sandvik added that the model’s wear-resistant rigid hopper is compatible for 2-way or 3-way split configurations, as well as having the ability to interchange side conveyors. The screen-box jack up facility is said to allow easier access to the bottom deck for maintenance and screen media changes.

The electrical control system features a key switch, a mode selector switch and one global plant button to start sequential automatic start-up and shut-down of the plant whilst in operating mode.

A large visual display allows operators to view information such as engine and plant status. Pre-start warnings on all plant functions provides an extra safety measure.

The QE342 also features two speed tracks and radio control tracking as standard.

Other new features include:

• Larger power pack to accommodate EU Stage 4, 5 and Tier 4 Final emissions compliant engines, with improved service access, hydraulics and lighting.

• More powerful CAT C4.4 96kw 130hp, Stage 4/Tier 4 Final compliant engine option.

• Redesigned chassis featuring 2-speed tracking for faster relocation times between jobs.

• Hybrid drive option with electric plug in available to run in diesel or electric mode.

• Hydraulic fluid change interval extended from 2000 to 4000 hours.

• Galvanised walkways and access ladders.
