JEDBURGH-based civil engineering specialist RJT Excavations has splashed out on three new Doosan DA30 articulated dump trucks after putting the machines to the test both on site in the UK and at Doosan’s proving ground in the Czech Republic.
The deal represents the first time RJT has purchased a Doosan product. The dump trucks were bought from local Doosan dealer James Gordon.
Prior to placing the order, the RJT team carried out “extensive trials” to ensure the kit was up to scratch in challenging ground conditions.
Kim Dudley, Doosan regional manager for northern Europe explained, “RJT’s on site team has nothing but positive feedback on the build quality, load capacity, traction in poor conditions, operator comfort, manoeuvrability and fast cycle times offered by the DA30 ADTs.”
RJT assistant plant manager Euan Heard added, “Being a contractor, downtime is a major concern to RJT. Gordons’ excellent network coverage and the Doosan manufacturer’s warranty has given us peace of mind for the long term and we look forward to a good working relationship with Gordons and Doosan.”
RJT runs a fleet of over 50 items of heavy plant. As well as its main yard in Jedburgh, the business has regional offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Leeds.
The DA30 trucks are powered by Scania DC9 276 kW (370 HP) diesel engines. Features include an articulation hinge behind the turning ring to provide equal weight distribution to the front axle even during maximum steer articulation. Doosan said that this, combined with a free-swinging rear tandem bogie, ensures equal distribution of weight to each wheel and “guarantees permanent 6-wheel contact and drive for equal power distribution and excellent traction on difficult terrain”.
