BREEDON Northern Limited is set to establish a presence in the Scottish Borders after snapping up Blinkbonny Quarry (Borders) for an undisclosed sum.
Blinkbonny runs a quarry and ready-mixed concrete plant near Kelso. The business employs 14 people and boasts around 2.8 million tonnes of basalt hard rock reserves and resources. The plant fleet comprises ready-mixed concrete mixers, tippers and a volumetric concrete mixer.
Alan Mackenzie, managing director of Breedon Northern said, “Blinkbonny gives us a great opportunity to establish a presence in the Scottish Borders, through a business with long-term mineral reserves and resources. It is well invested, with modern plant and machinery, and has established an excellent reputation for quality and service among its customers in the surrounding area.”
