GREG Mulhearn has been appointed managing director of asset maintenance specialist United Plant Services.
He has worked in the mining, quarry and construction industry for over 30 years, having started his career at Finning UK in 1987. He spent 19 years there, working across both sales and operations. In 2006 Greg joined Briggs Equipment as sales and marketing director before returning to Finning UK to help drive its growth sales strategy. He then joined Komatsu and later Babcock International, where he was responsible for the asset management strategy within the mining and construction division.
“My decision to join United Plant was a natural one, with a personal desire to utilise my experience. The change from a corporate to a privately-owned company with a desire for growth, also appealed to me as a new challenge,” Greg said. “Since joining as managing director the business has gone through a phase of review and consolidation. The review period has enabled me, together with the management team, to begin our journey and to develop a five-year growth strategy.
“All our people are instrumental to the successful future of United Plant and support across the business and our engineering team has been very positive, as we start to make improvements across our operation. We are also further enhancing our safety strategy as we continue to ensure safety best practise both for our staff and our customers.|
United Plant services and maintains heavy mechanical equipment. The business intends to grow its engineer base. “We are in a unique position, with the ability to provide an independent national asset management service to customers with any brand or type of machine,” Greg added. “With our five-year growth strategy now in place we can ensure we are providing the services our customers need. Furthermore, we are flexible, adaptable and proactive. It is certainly a very exciting time to lead the business and I am looking forward to its future.”
