New factory-installed options for SVAB and Steelwrist on Doosan wheeled excavators

MANUFACTURER Doosan has launched new factory-installed SVAB/Steelwrist options for its wheeled excavator range.

Doosan Smart Solutions is introducing a range of factory-fitted options and attachments from SVAB/Steelwrist for the company’s DX140W-5, DX160W-5, DX165W-5 and DX170W-5 wheeler excavators.

This includes SVAB’s control system; joystick steering; automatic digging break; Steelwrist quick coupler and tiltrotators; S60 quick coupler with front pin lock; direct fit X18 with S60 coupler; direct fit X18 with S60 coupler with gripper; sandwich X18 S60/S60; sandwich X18 S60/S60 with gripper; direct fit X20 with S60 coupler; Direct fit X20 with S60 coupler with gripper; sandwich X20 S60/S60; and sandwich X20 S60/S60 with gripper.

Doosan claimed the SVAB/Steelwrist installation on the four wheeled excavator models would enhance field support for dealers and customers, by providing “a complete CE-marked excavator that meets the customer’s requirements, saving on the time and costs required for installation normally carried out at the dealer’s facilities, with the additional advantage of integrated machine control systems for 3D work”.

The 14-tonne DX140W-5 and 16-tonne DX160W-5 wheeled excavators provide “significantly higher performance in every area” compared to the previous generation machines, according to Doosan. Both models feature the same DL06P 6-cylinder Stage IV water-cooled diesel engine and power outputs as previous machines, but have 5% more traction force. The DL06P engines outputs 102.2 kW (137 HP) and 113.3 kW (152 HP) at 2,000 rpm, respectively, in the DX140W-5 and DX160W-5.

The ‘CabSus’ cab suspension system reduces vibration and provides 1 dBA reduction in cab noise, the manufacturer claims.

The 16.5-tonne DX165W-5 Stage IV compliant wheeled excavator is a short tail machine, which Doosan said is “perfect” for jobs in tight spaces. It is built with the same undercarriage as the DX160W-5 Stage IV model and features a new generation of heavy-duty ZF axles. The DX165W-5 has the same forces and lifting capacities depending on the application as the DX160W-5 model, according to Doosan. It can therefore lift 5.87t at 4.5m reach over the front (at 3m high) and 4.28t over the side.

The 17-tonne DX170W-5 has 10% more engine power, 5% more engine torque and 5% more traction force compared to the previous generation model, Doosan said. The swing speed can now reach 10.8 rpm/minute and swing torque has been increased by 4%. Main pump capacity has increased by 9% and there is a “significant” increase of 10% in bucket force and a 3% in the arm force, due to the increased pressure in the new Negacon hydraulic system.
