HIRE giant A-Plant has launched a programme of events to mark National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from March 5-9.
The equipment supplier has already exhibited at What Career Live in Birmingham, providing advice to youngsters and their families about available opportunities. The firm’s training team will be visiting a school in Ipswich to participate in career sessions and invite pupils to tour a local service centre.
On social media, A-Plant’s apprentice ‘advocates’ will share their experiences in a series of interviews, while e A-Plant’s apprentices will be tasked with building a bridge as part of a challenge set by the Institution of Civil Engineers.
A-Plant currently has 166 apprentices across five different apprenticeship streams. The firm said it invests more than £2 million in its apprenticeship programme annually. Bob Harper, head of training explained, “A-Plant is the UK’s largest provider of hire equipment and tools so we need to ensure we have the right people and skills in place to meet the continuing needs of our customers and deliver award-winning expertise and capabilities.
“Our apprenticeship programme is widely sought after and we have excellent retention levels. It is a fantastic route to a long and fruitful career enabling people to earn as they learn.”
