Sandvik machine ‘hasn’t missed a beat’

A Cumbrian plant firm has put its faith in Sandvik after buying a QJ341 jaw crusher and QE341 scalper for its recycling business, following a demonstration of the machines earlier this year.

Ashcroft Plant Cumbria Ltd has expanded rapidly over the past ten years and is involved in sectors including groundworks, civil engineering and demolition. An important driver of the expansion has been the recycling side of the business. Ashcroft developed its own recycling yard two years ago and initially brought equipment in on hire. With an increasing need to supply usable aggregates for their own projects and for resale to other clients, founder Chris Ashcroft decided to invest in his own mobile crushing and screening plant.

He said, “Sandvik had the right products for our needs. The salesman was very knowledgeable, understood our requirements and put the right deal on the table.”

The QJ341 features a 1200 x 750mm C12 single toggle jaw, a hydraulically adjustable CSS and a PLC control system with colour screen. Fitted with a CAT-fixed speed engine, Sandvik described the QJ341 as being “extremely economical”.

“We have found the fuel economy to be good,” Chris added. “Production rates are excellent, especially in clean material.”

The reverse crush function aids with processing asphalt and is said to help relieve blockages.

Sandvik said the QE341 scalper was the “perfect match” for the QJ341. One of the features which impressed Ashcroft was the ability to configure the unit with reversed side conveyors or conveyors positioned on one side. This is particularly useful in the sort of tight spaces often found in recycling applications. Other features include the modular frame design of the screenbox and hydraulic jack-up screen facility.

Chris has now been using the products for six months now. He said, “The QE341 has not missed a beat since the day it was delivered. Service has been good and any issues we have experienced have been resolved quickly.”
