AN Elgin-based contractor and plant hirer has splashed out on four Liebherr R 922 crawler excavators to aid with an increased workload.
Billy Miller Contractor and Plant Hire was prompted to buy the machines following a “series of demonstrations” from major manufacturers.
The new models include auxiliary hammer and rotation pipework, additional LED lighting package and vandal protection guards. One of the machines has also been fitted with a Liebherr tilting bucket.
All four crawler excavators have been equipped with 5.4 m booms, 2.7 m sticks and Hill Tefra double locking quick couplers. The R 922s feature a 150 HP Liebherr diesel engine that the manufacturer said delivers peak power at just 1800 RPM.
A statement from Billy and Richard Miller from Billy Miller Contractor and Plant Hire read, “We have enjoyed a long-term relationship with Liebherr and after a machine demonstration knew we had made the right choice. The service back-up from Liebherr is first class and our operators rate the cab and performance of the excavators. Fuel economy is a major issue and the Liebherrs more than meet our requirements for fuel consumption.”
