A new Doosan DL450-5 wheel loader has been purchased by Tulloch Developments and is proving its worth loading and stockpiling materials at the Staney Hill quarry in Lerwick.

The firm bought the machine from Balgownie to replace a Doosan DL400 and is said to also be busy filling the material bins used to supply the quarry’s ready mix concrete system.

Tulloch Developments provides a ready mix concrete service to Shetland businesses and the public.

George Smith, a director at the firm, explained, “The new machine is a lynchpin for us as it works for extensive periods in both our aggregates production area and in the ready mix concrete plant.

“The DL400 was a good performer but I have great confidence in the benefits that the DL450-5 Stage IV machine will bring in productivity and the fuel efficiency and reliability of the new Scania engine backed by the excellent support we’ve always had from Balgownie.”

The DL450-5 is powered by the Scania DC13 6-cylinder engine and is part of Doosan’s ‘DL-5’ generation of wheel loaders.
