IronPlanet offers access to surplus U.S. military equipment

IronPlanet DLA auction
AN online marketplace for buying and selling used heavy equipment and trucks is giving its customers the chance to bid on surplus military machines from the United States Defence Logistics Agency (DLA).
The equipment, including trucks, trailers, and construction equipment, is located at a U.S. military base in Germany and will be available to purchase through IronPlanet.com on Wednesday 29th July. Interested parties can register now as a VIP for the ability to review the equipment in advance.

IronPlanet’s auction partnership with the DLA has been running in the U.S. since November 2014. Since that inaugural online auction, global demand for the items has grown considerably. In December, at one single auction, 111,000 registered users from across the world bid on the first High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs), or Humvees, made available to the public by the U.S. Department of Defence.

In a recent auction, 8,000 total bids were placed on 351 items.

Randy Berry, senior vice president, operations and services for IronPlanet said, “The July 29th auction will be the first IronPlanet has held in Europe selling DLA items and presents buyers with a truly unique opportunity to bid on expertly maintained U.S. military equipment. We know we have enthusiasm in the European market for the machines, and are confident of replicating the successes from the United States both at this auction and in the future.”
