HEWDEN has appointed Adrian Murphy as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Based at the firm’s Manchester Head Office, Adrian takes up the new role with immediate effect. Previously employed as Chief Operating Officer at Speedy Services PLC and Managing Director of Hilti, Adrian brings a wealth of industry experience and knowledge to the national hirer.

He said, “I am delighted to be joining Hewden whose brand and tradition is so well recognised across the Industry. I look forward to meeting and working with my new team to further develop the business.”

Previous CEO Kevin Parkes took over at Hewden in 2009, leading the business after the sale to private equity company Sun European Partners, LLP. He announced his intention to step down in December.

During his time at the company, Hewden launched its highly successful Core Fleet brand, the first next-day guaranteed service proposition for plant and access products.

Mr Parkes said, “It has been my pleasure to lead Hewden over the past six years. Through challenging times we have radically reorganised and rebuilt the business, relentlessly executing our strategy so Hewden is best placed to take advantage of the recovering market.”
