BREEDON Aggregates has invested £1.7 million in seven new machines. The haul includes five new Cat® K-Series wheel loaders from Finning, to support its quarrying and aggregate production in northern Scotland. A new Cat 336EL Hybrid excavator and a Cat 740B articulated dump truck also formed part of the deal.
Three Cat 972Ks, a Cat 938K and Cat 980K wheel loaders will help with the production of aggregates including limestone, granite, basalt, sand and gravel to the construction industry. The Cat 336EL Hybrid excavator and Cat 740B articulated dump truck will assist Breedon Aggregates at its Tom’s Forest quarry.
Alan Mackenzie, Chief Executive of Breedon Aggregates Scotland, said, “We have over 70 applications throughout our operations in Scotland, including quarries, asphalt plants and ready-mixed concrete plants, and a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of these sites. To support that, we need a robust and reliable fleet of equipment that will give us the capacity to reduce emissions and increase our productivity.
“Our operators have a decisive input to the purchasing decision of any machinery, and it’s key to our operations that they are comfortable and happy working with a machine before any investment is made. We have received some great feedback on the Cat machines we already have on our fleet, so it was an easy decision to invest further in Cat equipment.”
John Middleton, Territory Account Manager at Finning, said. “Breedon Aggregates’ stature as the UK’s largest independent aggregates supplier means that they require machinery that can complete tasks quickly and more economically. This is a further endorsement of Cat machinery and the trust Breedon Aggregates places in Finning’s ability to provide total equipment solutions.”
