Safety system is easy to set up

Merlo telehandler

WHEN the Environment Agency (EA) invested in a new Merlo telehandler recently, it chose Prolec’s PME100 height and 2D envelope monitor as its safety system. The system was installed by Prolec facilitator Dennis Barnfield Ltd.

PME100 is a variation of Prolec’s Prolec Machine Engine (PME), a modular system offering scalability and flexibility for a wide variety of applications. This particular specification – PME100CZH – was designed specifically for use with telehandlers and features an angle sensor, a CAN reeling drum and motion cut valves.
EA chose PME100 as real-time height restriction was required to maintain the safe operation of its telehandlers while on general handling jobs around the yard. The system is fit for purpose as it has a drum reel mounted on the boom to monitor the overall boom length in order to provide the real time height. If the safe working envelope is reached, the motion cut valves are activated, ensuring the safe operation of the equipment.
Stephen Bethell of Dennis Barnfield, said, “I think this system is amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s easy to set up and calibrate, and works exactly as you would expect. It’s a well-finished, polished and professional looking piece of kit, and it’s easy to make it look factory or OEM.”
